Revolutionizing Maternal Healthcare with AI

Revolutionizing Maternal Healthcare with AI

At CareNX Innovations, our mission is simple yet profound: to make pregnancy monitoring accessible and reliable for every mother, regardless of location or expertise available. Our flagship product, Fetosense, is a portable, AI-powered fetal monitoring system that enables early detection of fetal distress, ensuring timely medical intervention and reducing complications.

Making Fetal Monitoring Simple & Accessible

Imagine a scenario where a pregnant woman in a rural village has limited access to a gynecologist. Typically, she would have to travel long distances for fetal monitoring, often leading to delays in care. Fetosense changes this—a general physician (GP) or frontline health worker can now perform an AI-assisted fetal screening on the spot and receive real-time insights, enabling immediate action or remote consultation with specialists.

Tackling a Global Healthcare Challenge

Every year, over 2.6 million stillbirths occur globally, with a significant number being preventable through timely monitoring. In many developing and rural regions, gynecologist shortages and late diagnoses contribute to high maternal and neonatal mortality rates. Our solution empowers GPs and healthcare workers with AI-driven decision support, ensuring that no pregnancy goes unmonitored due to lack of expertise.

Why AI for Fetal Monitoring?

Fetal monitoring involves interpreting complex cardiotocography (CTG) readings, a skill that requires specialist training. By integrating AI and machine learning, Fetosense automatically classifies fetal well-being, helping non-specialist doctors detect warning signs early. While it serves as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for a gynecologist’s expertise, it does help to reduce human error, facilitate early intervention, and improve pregnancy outcomes.

What Makes Fetosense Unique?

  • Portable & Wireless – Can be used anywhere, even in remote areas.
  • AI-Powered Interpretation – Eliminates guesswork, helping non-specialists make informed decisions which include referring the patient to a specialist on time.
  • Cloud-Connected – Enables seamless remote consultation with gynecologists.
  • Cost-Effective & Scalable – Designed for large-scale deployment across healthcare systems.

Why Open Source?

Making our AI model open-source enables continuous innovation, transparency, and scalability. By allowing researchers, developers, and healthcare professionals to contribute, we ensure that AI-driven fetal monitoring remains cutting-edge and widely accessible to healthcare systems worldwide.

Our Journey & Motivation

CareNX was founded with the belief that technology should bridge gaps in maternal care, not widen them. We started by observing real-world challenges in rural India, where thousands of pregnancies go unsupervised due to healthcare shortages. This inspired us to build Fetosense, ensuring that every healthcare worker, no matter their location, can provide accurate and timely fetal monitoring.

Diversity Fuels Innovation

Our team brings together engineers, data scientists, obstetricians, and public health experts from diverse backgrounds. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to create tech-driven yet practical solutions, designed for the realities of maternal healthcare across different geographies. Diversity fosters better problem-solving, broader perspectives, and more impactful innovations.

Scaling with UNICEF Venture Fund’s Support

  • UNICEF’s Venture Fund investment will help us:
  • Enhance our AI model using 30,000+ pregnancy data points for more accurate fetal classification.
  • Deploy and test Fetosense with 30 GPs in underserved regions and connect these GPs to gynecologists in urban areas for follow-ups if needed.
  • Strengthen our open-source initiative, making AI-driven fetal monitoring globally accessible.
  • Scale to new markets, ensuring safe pregnancies for mothers worldwide.

Our First 100 Days

We have inked our partnership with gynecology department of Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Learning (DHIMER), a university in Wardha Maharashtra, and are finalizing the collaboration details with the gynecologists at this point of writing,

We have also laid the foundations for launching our first open source repository publicly next quarter, with research and decisions taken on our licensing strategy, quality assurance process, code of conduct among other things. We are excited to sharing more details in our next blog post.
