Lead infrastructure development for OOI and DPG.
Where are you from and where are you now?
I am from the Gold rich lands of Ashanti Region in Ghana and now I am in the capital city of Accra.
What you were doing before joining UNICEF?
I worked with enterprises like Google and Vodafone Ghana in building web and mobile apps for their various products and also improving their internal business workflows and processes. I used various technologies and open source software available to me to build REST APIs which have been deployed on diverse infrastructures like Docker, AWS and Google Cloud Platform. I also worked with various startups locally and internationally to build out their products and deployment pipelines in order to get their apps and products ready for their first wave of users.
What has been your biggest success in your role at UNICEF?
Successfully deploying and maintaining the Digital Public Good called Kindly. Kindly is an API that uses Machine Learning to identify 'toxic' messages. Kindly evaluates messages before they are sent and offers users the chance to modify them. It is a developing effort to make the web, websites, apps and other digital assets safer for children.
What was your dream job when you were a child?
I wanted to be a fighter pilot or a voice actor.
What is your hidden skill / talent?
I love to make A cappella music.
