Platform independence and good software development practices.
Where you’re from, and where you are now?
Born in Spain from a honduran family, grew up in Honduras and, now I'm back living Spain.
What you were doing before joining UNICEF?
I've been in the software industry since 2001. Worked in several organization of different sizes and sectors. Over the last 10+ years I focused my efforts in free/libre and open source software and tech for good (ICT4D, Climate Change). There is some UNICEF office somewhere that is using software that I have helped in the design, development or maintenance.
What has been your biggest success in your role at UNICEF?
Help the Venture Fund investees grasp the importance of Platform Independence, and achieve their goal of DPG recognition.
What was your dream job when you were a child?
I wanted to be a policeman, firefighter and a clown. At the same time.
What is your hidden skill / talent?
I tend to remember details (location, faces, documents, video/audio fragments, paragraphs) of random topics. Sometimes useful ones.
